Restrict Expanded Taxa to One or More FAO Major Fishing Areas

Joins the faoareas table from both servers onto an expanded taxa table and keeps only species recorded in the requested FAO major fishing areas. Species with no area assignment at all are always retained.

Usage

filter_by_fao_area(expanded, fao_areas, version = "latest")

Arguments

expanded

A table as returned by expand_taxonomic_info().

fao_areas

An integer vector of FAO major fishing area codes.

version

FishBase / SeaLifeBase release to read. See resolve_db_version().

Value

expanded, filtered, with the AreaCode column dropped.
